So, between the white and yellow bike, I think I’ve got about $3000 worth of motorcycle.
Both of these bikes will be sold when the season comes around, so I’ll have about 3K to play with.
several options here:
#1: Buy all consumables for the year. That’s about $1500 of tires, and about $250 of oil, filters, coolant, brake pads, blah blah blah. and a new helmet.
Total: $2050
#2: Throw a bunch of parts at ebay. GSX-R rear wheel, LED / projectors, and everything from option 1.
Total : ~$ 3000
#3: Ignore the bike. get a full new set of gear. a textile jacket (250), a leather (600), new pants (leather) (400), new set of gauntlets (250), set of race boots (600) and a really nice helmet (800)
Total: $2900
Option 4: spend NONE of the money and set it aside for a new bike fund. Start working towards that MT-10 or Daytona 675R
What would Oppo do?

I don’t know how to ride a motorcycle, so I’d sell them all and buy a cafe racer to learn on.

Nah, I’d buy a sports bike.

Is this a sidebar joke?

no thanks.

Is Aprila still around? That seems like a cute starter bike.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 16:33 |

Yes, except I haven’t seen it, or Blackbird, for a while and I’m worried that Univision did something to harm them.

Save the money and when you can sell the third bike as well for a new one.
Maybe spend some of the money $500-1000 on gear and whatnot?
![]() 09/25/2016 at 16:36 |

keep white one sell others. Offroad is best road
![]() 09/25/2016 at 16:39 |

3rd bike is never getting sold. I’m riding that bike until it dies or I crash it horribly. Even once I replace it as a daily rider, its going to stick around as a track bike.
Im going to have to get new gear anyways, the question is just do I spend the money now, or set it aside and work through the summer for it.

nah.
1: no where to ride dirt bike
2: dirtbike is slow as shit. and its a kickstart only.
3: Id lose so much money selling the black one its not even funny.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 16:51 |
|
1. side of the road
2. real starter
3. anything you mod looses money. I took a bath on my AWD DSM
![]() 09/25/2016 at 16:55 |
|
1: thats call the side walk. I live in suburbia.
2: you can keep all the pseudo-masochism. I’m not daily riding a kick start
3:forget the mods, just depreciation. The other two bikes I’d be making money off of them.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 16:59 |

long as not people are not on it your good
If bike is running right one kick is all it takes. :) Pull starting a snowmobile for a weekend is much worse
well yea depreciation is on everything. except diesel trucks

White bike is cool, yellow bike is pretty (SV650?). If there are no dirt trails, sell the white bike. Option 3 is a better choice since safety first and comfort too. Oil changes are come and go, you might get a good deal on gear since winter is near.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 17:04 |

Hmmm.... Safety first. Get yourself some leathers, and good boots. The minorest of accidents result in ankle injury. Crutches suck!
![]() 09/25/2016 at 17:06 |

yea, i’d rather not get arrested. I’ll pass.
I ride 50K km a year. I’m not kick starting a 650 5 times a day, fuck that shit.
I dont consider depreciation unless I have to sell it. I bought the black bike for about 7.3K. with the suspension and everything on it, its about 10K into that bike right now. Difference is, I dont plan on selling that bike. its doing to live and die by my hands.

yea, I’ve got 2 Svs. yellow is a 2000, black is a 2009
![]() 09/25/2016 at 17:07 |

I already have all the gear....I just kinda want new gear that fits a little bit better :D
![]() 09/25/2016 at 17:12 |

Nah, not starter enough. MV Agusta is what you want.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 17:29 |
|
Do you think 1000cc peppy enough? I’m sort of suspicious about something with 1/2 the wheels of my sedan but only 1/4 of the displacement.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 17:36 |
|
Actually, I found the perfect starter: Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14.
They make the Ninja 250 and 300, but that’s not enough power to even move the bike. 1,400cc is just right.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 17:43 |

Well, you already know which opton I would choose.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 19:02 |

Treat us all to dinner, then buy gear.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 19:03 |

buy the yellow or white bike and I will!

New bike fund. Keep on flipping.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 21:15 |

I have a lead on a pair of yamaha 650s in brussels. 400 for the pair. you should grab it.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 21:24 |
|
Yeah, no. If you can get street tires on that Enduro you can sell it for 3 or more. The youts eat that shit up.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 21:33 |
|
by you should grab it I mean, you should grab them, keep them at your place until I get back from school and I’ll give you $500 for them :D
![]() 09/25/2016 at 21:50 |
|
Fair enough, you should work through the summer regardless and make dat money.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 23:23 |

New bike fund.
![]() 09/25/2016 at 23:55 |

oh, working will happen. The question is just what do I do with the $ now.

GROM GROM GROM GROM GROM!!
![]() 09/26/2016 at 01:22 |
|
yea, (un)fortunetly, i’m a skinny ass motherfucker.
advantage: same bike, I’ll be faster then 90% of dudes out there.
disadvantage: kuck fick-starts
![]() 09/26/2016 at 05:31 |
|
So you really, actually can’t start the bike? And it’s running right, good spark plug, valves are in spec, carb is clean and jetted?
![]() 09/26/2016 at 07:02 |
|
Buy some good gear, then use the rest for track days and tires! Duh!
![]() 09/26/2016 at 09:27 |
|
Start saving for the 675. Good lord they are drop dead sexy bikes
![]() 09/26/2016 at 09:34 |
|
Track days! use the money to get leathers if you don’t have them already and then the rest for tires and track days!
![]() 09/26/2016 at 11:25 |
|
that would effectively be option #1
![]() 09/26/2016 at 13:52 |
|
I brought the bike home and left for school 3 days later, I havent been able to even look at it for more then 30 minutes
![]() 09/26/2016 at 14:48 |
|
That seems cheap for those bikes. You should be able to get 2.5 for the SV and 2 for the dual sport I’d think. (That’s what I sold my SV650 and DR650 for respectively)
![]() 09/26/2016 at 14:54 |

Id rather expect low and be surprised then expect high and be disappointed.

That is generally a good idea, but selling yourself short is a bad way to go into negotiations. I only say it because I do it to myself all the time and I’m trying to cut it out.
